Julia’s diploma thesis was the outcome of a 5-month stay in the research group of Prof. Dr. Christopher J. Schofield at the University of Oxford. During this period, she focused on the development of substrate-derived protease inhibitors with potential antiviral properties. The project was supervised and the resulting thesis reviewed by Prof. Dr. Peter Imming (MLU Halle) and Prof Dr. Christopher J. Schofield (Oxford).
Personal statement:
The research stay in the group of Prof. Schofield was a pivotal experience as it provided me the opportunity to actively contribute to academic research for the first time. I therefore consider it a great honour to receive the annual diploma thesis award by Serumwerk Bernburg AG for the work conducted during this period. Being part of the GRK2873, I am now looking forward to enhance my skills and knowledge in Medicinal Chemistry as a PhD student in the research group of Prof. Christa E. Müller.
